Where the Dead Speak Loudest

Obituaries that celebrate, roast, reflect, and remember—with style.

Memorial Red Rose

Our Mission

The Departed Dispatch is where obituaries go to live a little. We celebrate the dearly departed (and the not-so-dearly) with death notices, self-penned farewells, celebrity send-offs, scathing roasts, and pet tributes that’ll make you laugh, cry, or both. Our mission? To turn the final word into a memorable one, because every life deserves a headline, and every goodbye deserves a little flair.

About

My name is Eric Orbanus and I am the founder of The Departed Dispatch.

I’ve always been drawn to the mysterious. As a kid, I devoured true crime stories and found myself fascinated by the final chapters of people’s lives—their legacies, their secrets, and the way they were remembered. That curiosity followed me into adulthood, where I joined the military at 18 and got a front-row seat to the real world. It taught me that every person carries a story worth telling, and sometimes the most powerful ones are shared after they’re gone.

The Departed Dispatch is my way of giving those stories a voice. Whether it’s a straightforward death notice, a self-written farewell, or a tribute penned by grieving loved ones, each format offers a different lens into a life lived. I want to explore them all—with honesty, emotion, and a touch of flair.

This site isn’t just about sadness. It’s about humor, inspiration, reflection, and sometimes a good roast. Because grief isn’t one-note, and neither are the people we’ve lost. And yes, that includes pets—because if you’ve ever loved one, you know their departure hits just as hard.

Every obituary here is a chance to connect, to feel, and to remember. Loudly and proudly.
